It is a curious exercise — to evaluate landscapes like those of the Düsseldorf school or New Topographics as if they were produced in the Romanticist canon. Like the old code in the genetic makeup, those traces are still with us, ever present even in those movements that most reject them. Heritage is usually a mixed bag.

This small series was produced along the coast of Long Island, on sites that were closed for the general public for cleanup and restoration.
